In May we spoke about Elon’s efforts to sell all his homes in favour of a simpler life.
And not only did he sell his multimillion-dollar portfolio, but now he’s living in a tiny home worth $50,000 on the Boca Chica Starbase that he rents from his company, SpaceX.
The tiny home is a 375-square-foot home from Boxable, though the company is yet to officially confirm this, Boxabl hinted the sale in a short promotional video the company posted in November last year. In the video, Galiano Tiramani, one of the Founders of Boxabl, says “The [Boxabl] Casita I’m sitting in right now in Boca Chica, Texas, we just installed for a top-secret customer.”
This appears to be part of Musk’s plans to “own no house” though he has stated that he still owns an events home in the Bay Area which if sold, would see next to no use, unless bought by a big family, which may happen one day.
This doesn’t take away from the fact, that as one of the world’s richest men (and most eccentric), he’s finding happiness in the smaller things (which may be rich coming from a man who’s planning to take humans to Mars), but it’s a great lesson in a world of excess.
You don’t need to be a millionaire (or Billionaire in Elons case), to be happy. Happiness is defined by your wants, needs and desires and if happiness is a $50million-dollar property portfolio or living in a tiny home then who are we to judge.
But how do you get there? Well, it’s no surprise that over 90% of all millionaires made their fortunes with property so what are you waiting for?
